We have found at 7:20 pm on May 21, that a 10-year old boy living in Nakagyo-ward was infected with the new influenza.
The City of Kyoto takes the following measures starting from May 22 to 27.
1 All the kindergartens, elementary schools and junior high-schools located in Nakagyo ward and Shimogyo ward will be closed.
2 All the municipal senior high-schools and the total supporting schools will be closed.
3 Kyoto City University of Arts will be closed.
4 Private schools and other universities are expected to conform
to the decisions of the municipal schools considering the students’ commuting routes.
5 Nurseries will be operated as usual under the strict health management.
6 In principle, public facilities within the city area will be operated as usual.
7 In Nakagyo-ward and Shimogyo-ward events hosed by the City of Kyoto will be conducted as usual. However it is recommended to postpone the events if possible.
8 Events hosted by private sectors are asked to conduct the strict health management.
Since the symptoms of this new influenza and the seasonal influenza are similar to each other, please stay calm.
You are asked to gargle, wash hands, keep manner of coughing and wear mask to
prevent from being infected with the new influenza.
You are also asked to avoid crowded places.
If you have a fever, coughing or other symptoms similar to new influenza, please call the
consulting center at the city hall which operates on 24 schedules or at the public health
